I have written about the order of battle of PSYOP troops in the 60s. I would like to hear from you at sgmbert@hotmail.com if you have the time. I am always interested in things like where you were, what you did, your commander, etc. It would be nice to have an accurate record of where everyone was during the Vietnam War.

I served in the 245th in NhaTrang from June 1966 to June 0f 1967. Nha Trang was our base camp but we were out in the field with the 1st Calvary (1st of the 7Th) and (2nd of the 7th)  out of Phen Tiet. I went on from there to become a cartoonist and illustrator for Pacific Stars & Stripes in Tokyo untill Jan of 1969. Paul Burnett (Gunner) was a close friend of mine.
Sincerely
James (Robbie) Robbins

Hey there Robbins remember me.  I was also assigned to the 245th Psyop Co, 66 - 67 and also attached to the 2/7 cav after you.  My name is Paul Johnson.  After I left the 245th I went to CONUS for 3 months and then returned to Vietnam and was assigned to the 10th BN in Can Tho.  I was attached out once again to the 9th Inf Div in Dong Tam until I was wounded in Nov 68 went back to 10th Bn in mid Jan 69 and ETS'd in March 69.  Later I re enlisted and retired as a MSG in 1988.  Had many assignments in my 22.5 years but the most memorable was that of active duty advisor to 2 Reserve PSYOP Units in Texas (the 244th PSYOP Company in Abilene and the 245th PSYOP Company in Dallas this was from January 1980 until December 1982)  One other thing I still have some of the leaflets you drew and some cartoons that you passed around the compny.  Hope all has been well with you.  I am now totally retired and live in Old Town, Florida with my wife Pam. 8)

I am currently with the 345th PSYOP which is the successor to the 245th in Dallas. We are working on our unit history, and find a big blank during the period you were there. Also, I am working on researching PSYOP in Vietnam for my MA in History. I want to look at the tactical side, of which very little has been written. If you would be interested, I would like to contact you further on both these issues.

Good to hear from your again Eddie.

As this thread has taken a few years to develop, I've emailed the earlier posters to let them know about the more recent replies.

Best of luck with your MA in History.

As I said in an earlier post, I was the Active Duty Advisor to the 245th PSYOP Company, located in Dallas Jan 1980 - Dec 1982.  During that time I gave some of my photos from Vietnam while I was stationed with the 245th there 1966 - 1967.  I believe that I gave them to CWO Cecil Monroe who was the active duty technician back then. I still have many photos from that time and you can contact  me through this site if you wish and then I'll give you my email address.  Paul  P.S. In the meantime check out this site for more on the 245th PSYOP Co and the 24th PSYOP Det (which was later designated the 245th) http://www.psywarrior.com/24thPsyopDet.html it gives quite a bit of background.

Paul,
Thanks, I have been with the 345th (former 245th) for about 10 years now. We are compiling a history, so if you have any info that would be great. Also I am working on a MA covering the introduction of PSYOP forces in Vietnam and development of doctrine between 1965-1968. You can reach me at mervyn.roberts@sbcglobal.net. I would love to see any photos you have. I found some video which you may be interested in as well.

This is THE BEAR speaking. Offset pressman Len Keran of the 245th served from Feb. 1967 for a year. Crazy Bissontz was the boss for a while in print section. He used to beat the hell out of the presses when they were'nt running right. I remember Mel Partain and Paul Johnson. Johnson liked to drink too much.

Like to hear from anybody there in 1967 at the old Camp McDermott.

I am currently working on my PhD Dissertation on PSYOP in the Vietnam War. This is a continuation of my MA thesis which you can find here: http://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc28468/?q=mervyn%20roberts
I am also working with ArcGIS to produce an accurate map of the war using things like the HES, TIRS, VCIIF, SEAFF and other digital data collected during the war. I have attached an example.
I have two tours conducting PSYOP with the 345th PSYOP in Afghanistan and think I will be able to approach this as both an operator and an academic.
Anyway, I have posted before, but any PSYOP veterans of Vietnam who can provide me background information to help tell the story, or grid coords (MGRS or Lat Long) of PSYOP related locations, I would love to talk to you.
