New Member Introduction
« on: March 13, 2015, 05:59:28 PM »
Having been a lurker for a while, I thought I would finally sign up as a member.

I have a variety of research interests that are relevant to this forum.

My very slowly (not currently enrolled, will re-enrol for thesis completion and submission) in progress PhD investigates the reception and employment of Information Operations as an operational concept by the Australian Defence Force (in the period from Gulf War I broadly up to the present).

In part related to this, I am also working on a history of the ADF psychological operations capability, from the post WWII period up to the present.  In particular, I am interested in the influence of the UK approach to military PSYOPS (contra strategic PSYOPS conducted by IRD) during Confrontation; and also the re-establishment of the ADF's PSYOPS capability between the 1970s and the mid 1990s (after the shutdown of the Vietnam War era 1 ATF PSYOPS Unit, a topic addressed in Derril De Heer's great MA thesis).

Regards all,

Jeff Malone

Jeff, a very warm welcome to psywar.org.
Must admit I'm not too up on Austalian Info Ops, other than FELO in WW2.
If you're up for it, we'd welcome an article on this subject for psywar.org.

Drop me a PM or email if it's something you may be interested in doing at any time.

Best wishes,

Lee

Lee,

Many thanks; I might have some material that I can post in the relatively near future; will PM you re this.

I will now also start posting on the forums proper, largely issues relating to the history of UK PSYOPS from the late 60s to the 80s.

Thanks Jeff, that sounds great! Always interested in post-WW2 UK PSYOPS as well.
