Flugblatt Ostfront 16.4.1945
« on: January 02, 2017, 12:44:51 AM »
Good morning,
To start with: A peacefull 2017 for all of you.
I'm new on this forum; I collect "paperwork" relating to the final battle for Berlin. Very attractive are (for my collection) the German and Red Army Flügblätter.
I found this Flugblatt in a German collection. Nowhere else did I find on the WWW a similar one to compare with.
It is a known document though, the text is used in many books.
What is your opinion? Rarity, value ...?
Keep up the good work!

Hi Peter, I was hoping that someone else might have responded. I'm not familiar with this particular leaflet myself but am interested to learn more about it. Hopefully more responses to your request will be posted shortly.

Hello Lee,
In the mean time I found out that:
The text from this Flugblatt came from the Führerhauptquartier (April 14/15th 1945) via telex (Fernschreiben) to the Heeresgruppen with the order to dispers it through the units until every soldier got it.
IMO some (major) unit(s) produced this Flugblatt just for that. Because it is not marked by the unit we"ll never know ...
Condition, smell and particular (not modern) size (a tad bigger then A4) of the paper confirm its age.
As it "came out" the day the Red Army started its "Berlin-Offensive", not many will have survived.
