Burma Front Leaflets
« on: March 10, 2017, 07:30:13 PM »
Hi, my main area of interest is propaganda aimed at Indian troops. I recently bought a sdungbook that had been put together by a sargeant serving in 113 Sqn RAF. It had number of leaflets pasted in it. I presume these were dropped by his squadron while operating from Imphal in 1944, targeting Indians, Japanese and Burmese. These include: SB/9, SB/49, SJ/14, SJ/16, SHN/1, SHN/2, SJN/1 and a few un-numbered leaflets. I will try and post images shortly.

Many thanks Burra_sahib, would be very interesting to see them.
The leaflet database has around 700 PWD/SEAC leaflets listed but few illustrations.

Hi, the green leaflet is actually SJ/43, which was dropped over Japanese troops in Burma in Oct 1944. It's titled, "The Burma dream is over".

Thank you Ben. Is there any reference article or record from where one can learn more about these?

Afraid that SEAC leaflets are not well written up. I'll eventually get down to doing this myself, but it will be a while before I can find time to do so. Meanwhile, I'm working to have as complete a collection as I can put together.

Ben
