OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM

OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM
A US Air Force (USAF) MC-130E Combat Talon loadmaster discusses with the crew the aircrafts cargo of boxes containing 120,000 leaflets that will be dropped over Basra, Iraq, sending a message to Iraqis that they not get in the way of coalition forces and that soldiers capitulate, during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.

Spc. Jarod Delhotal, a psychological operations specialist assigned to Company B, 9th PSYOP Battalion, operates a portable loudspeaker as he broadcasts messages in Russian to role players in the Military Operations in Urban Terrain city at Range 68 on Feb. 5. Delhotal and three other Soldiers were at the range participating in a weeklong assessment and selection course for assignment to Tactical PSYOP Detachment 940, which provides direct PSYOP support to the 75th Ranger Regiment. Missions at the range's MOUT site included a village assessment and combat loudspeaker operations. Five candidates spent the week in tough physical and mental trials while vying for spots in the detachment. TPD 940 is assigned to Company B, 9th Battalion, 4th PSYOP Group (Airborne).

OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM
Staff Sgt. Joseph Schicker of 318th Psychological Operations Company, attached to 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, drops informational leaflets during the aftermath of the destruction of a suspected insurgent safe house by four 500 pound U.S. Air Force Guided Bomb Units which were dropped by a B-1 bomber aircraft in the Gharman area of Baghdad, Iraq on May 19, 2007. Soldiers  cleared houses and told residents to evacuate the area in preparation for the bombing of the building suspected of being an insurgent safe house.
