WHY IS DR. LEY SILENT?
As far back as September 20th
the American Press revealed that
WHERE ARE DR. LEY'S MILLIONS?
Over a period of years Dr. Ley has succeeded in surreptitiously sending enormous sums of money out of the country. In the last six months preceding the outbreak of war alone he smuggled not less than
50 to 60,000 USA Gold Dollars
a month over the frontiers.
As is only fitting for a working comrade of the German Workers Front, Robert Ley is a comparatively poor man - at any rate by comparison with certain Party friends of his.
He has deposited abroad the mere trifle of
1,050,000 USA Gold Dollars in Real Estate
4,415,000 Danzig florins in Life Insurance policies.
The greater part of his fortune in Dollars is invested in South America.
HOW WAS THE MONEY SMUGGLED OUT?
Herr Ley had no luck with his accomplices! His two chief agents were:
Alphonse Muckermann of Stuttgart, a former Foreign Office courier, and a certain Paul Richter of Münster.
Herr Muckermann had the misfortune to be beheaded for treason and Herr Richter has been locked up in a concentration camp at Dachau for embezzlement.
Nevertheless Ley engaged fresh agents for his smuggling operations, namely:
Franz Borsemann of Berlin and
Wilhelm Otto von Twettow, a Berlin business man, as well as certain Directors of the well known Hamburg Shipyard, Blohm & Voss and of the Danziger Raiffeisen Bank.
